Beacon Man Arrested On Drug Charges

On September 26, 2013 law enforcement from The Mahaska County Sheriffs Office, Oskaloosa Police Department and The Southeast Iowa Inter-agency Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant at the residence/business of 515 Reed St., in Beacon, IA. During the search officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cash, scales and packaging materials.
Officers arrested Christopher Daniel Russell age 35. Russell is Charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver within certain real property, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to deliver carries a maximum penalty of a 10 year sentence and the possibility of a 5 year enhancement for being within 1,000 feet of a city public park and carries a maximum fine of $10,000.
Possession of marijuana is a serious misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 1 year and a fine not to exceed $1875.
Possession of drug paraphernalia is a simple misdemeanor which carries a maximum penalty not to exceed 30 days and a fine not to exceed $625.
Russell is currently held in the Mahaska County Jail.
It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
