Ashley N. Shafer, 24, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, August 6, 2019. She was born August 29, 1994, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Terry and Coral (Utterback) Shafer.

Ashley attended Oskaloosa schools, after school she worked numerous jobs. Her most recent was housekeeping at the hotel.

She enjoyed music, reading, watching the sunset, and photography. She most importantly loved caring for and spending time with her four beautiful girls. She cherished the time spent with family and watching her girls grow and learn new things.

Her family includes her four daughters: Nevaeh Brewer, Nadalyn Brewer, Harper Brewer and Aneira Mackerl, all of Oskaloosa; father, Terry Shafer of New Sharon; mother, Coral Shafer of Ottumwa; four brothers: Zane (& Morgan) Bakalar of Eddyville, Trinity Shafer, Zachary Shafer of Oskaloosa, Aaron Shafer of Brooklyn; Maternal grandparents: Kevin (& LuAnn) Utterback of Oskaloosa and Leona Gravitt of Oskaloosa; paternal grandparents: Ron Shafer Sr. of Oskaloosa and Connie Molenburg of New Sharon; great grandmother, Gwenyth Mary Clubb; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ashley was preceded in death by a nephew: Cody Shafer; and a great grandfather: Hal Utterback.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Ashley will be cremated following funeral services. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will open after 9:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
