Art Students’ Work to be Displayed
North Mahaska recently learned that four of their students will have artwork on public display as part of Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month is a statewide juried art show open to all teacher members of the Art Educators of Iowa.
Each member teacher is allowed to submit up to 10 artworks from grades Kindergarten-12.
North Mahaska K-12 art instructor Molly Ray submitted 10 works of art from nine artists and four were selected for the show.
“In a juried show with submissions from all over the state of Iowa I was very pleased to have four artists work selected for the Youth Art Month Exhibit,” said Ray. “They were all extremely high quality.”
Those who were selected included, Lincoln Van Zee, sixth grade painting “Night Sky Over the Mountains;” sophomore Lacey Campbell, Photography “Mountain Mint;” sophomore Ellie Westercamp, Drawing “House of Memories;” and senior Brianna Gragg, Drawing “Colorado Daydream.”
The artwork will be part of the Youth Art Month Exhibit on display at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines during the month of March. An awards ceremony for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.
