Anna Marie Gingrich, 94, of Ottumwa, passed away January 30, 2021 at the Ottumwa Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was born on June 11, 1926 the daughter of Edward and Opal “B” (Reaugh) Darrah in Burlington, Iowa.

Anna attended high school in Burlington.

On September 14, 1944 she was united in marriage to John Gingrich. To this union a daughter was born. Together, John and Anna shared 70 years of marriage until John’s passing on July 17, 2015.

Anna was a dedicated homemaker and took care of her family and her home. In 1965 they took in their grandchild Todd, at the age of 6 months, and raised him as their own. Anna and John farmed in Burlington until 1975 when they moved to Ottumwa and continued to farm.

Anna was a past member of the Eastern Star and was part of the Republican Election Board. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her grandchildren: Todd (& Melissa) Gingrich, Chris Walker, Michelle Kirkpatrick and Matthew (& Kim) Kirkpatrick; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Landes; and 2 brothers, Ed Darrah Jr. and Ron Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gingrich; her parents and a brother, Harry Darrah.

Honoring Anna’s wishes, her body will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Eddyville Schools F.F.A. program or Fremont Lions Club.
