Ann Van Gorp, 85, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa.

Ann was born October 7, 1928, in Kinross, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin R. and Arline G. Glider Wade.

Ann was united in marriage to Don Childs. Together they ran Don Ann’s Supper Club in Rose Hill. Following the death of Don, Ann continued to run the supper club later changing the name to Annie’s Supper Club. She sold the business and retired in 1994, after running it for 35 years.

On October 23, 1999, she was united in marriage to Marion “Jr” Van Gorp in Oskaloosa. Anne and Jr. enjoyed many winters in Arizona together. She was a member of the Oskaloosa American Legion. She attended the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa.

Ann’s family includes her husband, Jr. Van Gorp of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Penny L. Osweiler of Mesa, Arizona; a son, Bill (Marietta) Towner of Mason City, Iowa; two step daughters: Deanna (Bill) Heelegaard of Montana and Jan Carter of Oskaloosa; a daughter in law, Elizabeth Childs; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Don, Ann was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Childs; one sister; two brothers; and two nieces.

As was Ann’s wish, her body has been cremated. There will be a celebration of life service held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Ann’s family would like to thank the staff at Crystal Heights Care Center for the loving care they gave Ann in her final months.
