Amber Lewis, 31, of Beacon, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Comfort Hospice House in Pella after a long and hard fought 4 year battle with colon cancer. She was born on March 8, 1991, in Riverside, California.

Amber attended Winterset High School and graduated with the Class of 2009. She later attended AIB College of Business.

On April 28, 2015 she was united in marriage to Makayla Lewis in Oskaloosa.

Amber was a fulltime homemaker, dedicated mother and wife. She enjoyed game night and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cuddling with their cat, Ruth, and spending time in the sun with their dog, Luna. She loved seeing her nieces and nephews, trying and often failing, to beat Jada and Makayla at board games, Uno and trying her hand at crocheting. Amber will be remembered for making everyone around her laugh and will be missed by many.

Her family includes her wife, Makayla Lewis of Beacon; her daughter, Jada Lewis of Beacon; her foster parents, Tim and Tami Guion; a sister, Tara Guion; her brother and sister-in-laws, Madison Alger, Megan Alger, Jake Lewis, Blake Howard and Kirkland Howard; her mother-in-law, Julie Howard; her father-in-laws, James Howard and Bill Lewis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Amber was preceded in death by her step-father, Terry Scheuermann; a nephew, Emerett Howard; and a close friend, Michael Klopf.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating.
As was Amber’s wish her body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held Thursday in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-7 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
