Allonia Mae Harland, age 85, of Urbandale, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at her home. Allonia was born on December 2, 1935, in Ottumwa, IA, to Fred and Mildred (Walker) Kopp.

On June 25, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jackie Harland and to this union, 5 children were born, Joyce, Jerry, Roger, Norma and Jackie. Allonia and Jackie shared nearly 59 years of marriage prior to Jackie’s passing on June 1, 2014.

Allonia was a homemaker, staying at home to raise her children. While at home, she loved to cook and bake goods, paint, and put together puzzles. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. Allonia loved the outdoors, camping and planting flowers. She enjoyed traveling to horse races. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.

Allonia is survived by her 5 children: Joyce (Fred) Hill, Jerry (Jeannie) Harland, Roger (Rhonda Moore) Harland, Norma (Mike Hill), and Jackie (Tasha Hobbs) Harland; 20 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. Allonia is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Allonia was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Harland; her parents, Fred and Mildred; 5 sisters: Betty, Norma, Elaine, Phyllis, and Ruth; and 4 brothers: Lavern, Charles, Larry, and Clifford.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Mike and Vicky McCoy co-officiating.

Burial will follow services at Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, IA.

An open memorial has been established to the family.
