Alice Hudson, 83 of New Sharon passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, October 23, 2019 at the Northern Mahaska Rehabilitation Center in Oskaloosa. Alice Jean Hudson, the daughter of Harold and Dina (Loden) Strom, was born on December 29, 1935 in New Sharon, Iowa.

Alice graduated from New Sharon High School in 1953 and was a cheerleader for the 1953 New Sharon Girls state runner up basketball team.

On June 13, 1954, Alice was united in marriage to David Hudson.

After they were married, they moved to Melrose Park, Illinois and Alice worked for AT&T for over 20 years. After retiring in 1985, Alice and David moved back to New Sharon.

Alice enjoyed traveling, quilting, crosswords and word search puzzles. She also enjoyed, in her younger years, playing Pinochle. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her special nieces and nephews. Alice was on the New Sharon Spring Festival Committee where she was the head of the Rose Show for a number of years. She served as Grand Marshall for the Spring Festival and was also a member of the Alumni Association, the New Sharon Historical Society, a faithful member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Church Faith Circle and U.M.W. where she had the privilege to help serve at funeral luncheons for many years.

Her memory will be honored by her nephews, William (& Sarah Van Wyk) Hudson of Monroe and Mike (& Sandy) Strom of Joliet, IL; her nieces: Michele Rankin, Deborah Christiansen, Jennifer Salcher, Julie Buren, Jennifer Buren, Nancy (& David) Isch and Kathy Gorsuch; two sisters-in-law, Karen Hudson and Connie Strom; and many other great nieces, nephews and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Hudson on February 14, 2002; two brothers: Floyd (& Joyce) Strom and Harry Strom; a niece, Teresa Keto; two brothers-in-law, William Hudson and John Gorsuch; three sisters-in-law: Wilma (& Fred) Duven, Barbara Gorsuch and Kathleen Wright Gorsuch; and two nephews, Eric Hudson and David Gorsuch.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm at the Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with Pastor Rick Baarda officiating.
Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon United Methodist Church or the New Sharon Historical Society.
