PELLA— Central College football kicker Jon Alberts (sophomore, Huntley, Ill.) and women’s soccer goalkeeper Taylor Golt (freshman, Crystal Lake, Ill., Prairie Ridge HS) were named Iowa Conference players of the week Monday evening.

Alberts kicked a school-record four field goals in his second game as the starting placekicker. Alberts put three 30-yard field goals through the upright before icing the Dutch’s 33-22 victory with a career-long 33-yard try.

This is the kicker’s first player of the week award and Central’s first football special teams player of the week award since Alberts’s predecessor Aaron Marcellus ’17 earned the award Nov. 6, 2016.

Golt has yet to give up a goal on the season, pitching her fourth straight shutout Saturday in a 1-0 win over Wis.-Oshkosh. Over the last three games, Golt has eight saves and played all 270 minutes.

This is the freshman’s first player of the week award and Central’s first women’s soccer defensive player of the week award since Sydney Lunardi ’17 earned the award Oct. 30, 2016.
