Academic Laurels to Eight Players
Findlay, Ohio–Eight members of the 2014 William Penn Statesmen football team joined a record number of academic honorees as the Mid-States Football Association announced its all-academic team today.
Evan Ressler (Sr., Cascade, Iowa, Biology) paced the Statesmen with a 3.80 Grade Point Average entering the spring. Justin Lewis (Sr., Florence, Ala., Sociology) was next at 3.64. Both individuals earned their second laurels.
First-time recipients were Judson Humphries (Sr., Phenix City, Ala., Secondary Education) and Connor Menown (Jr., Springfield, Mo., Business Management), both at 3.53, Devin Verwers (Jr., Norwalk, Iowa, Industrial Technology) at 3.49, Nate Tvedt (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management) at 3.40, and Kramer Patterson (Jr., Ozark, Mo., Secondary Education) and Kalob Gist (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management), each at 3.33.
A total of 154 student-athletes were honored.
To be eligible to be on the team, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale, and must be a varsity starter or key reserve player.
