A to Z Foodie Trail Seeking Applications

Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group

In January of 2018, partners in Mahaska County and Marion County collaborated to create a trail for foodies. This was a way to extend visitor stays, build off-season tourism traffic, promote our unique foodie businesses and showcase how rural towns are cool to young professionals. The trail was developed around unique products for each letter of the alphabet and branded as the A to Z Foodie Trail. Since the launch, the trail has been recognized by Family Living Magazine, Top 18 Things to do in Iowa by Travel Iowa and Top 10 Tasty Food Trails in US by the Travel Channel.

WHO IS INVOLVED IN PLANNING THE TRAIL?

The initial planning partners included the Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau, Mahaska County Agricultural & Rural Development, Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group and Marion County Development Commission.

WHAT IS THE CRITERIA FOR BEING A STOP?

Planning partners are now accepting application for the A to Z Foodie Trail Stops. A letter of the alphabet represents each stop, so there is potential for 26 different stops. Entities must be located in Marion County or Mahaska County, be open to the public year round, sell locally made items that are unique or locally grown/produced. Preference will be given to entities that have received regional, state, national or global awards from a third party organization. For further details and criteria, contact one of the planning partners.
To receive an application and trail criteria email: jill@visitpella.com, ddegroot@oacdg.org or carla@redrockarea.com.
