Karol Sue Leech, 62, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born January 23, 1956, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Eugene and Donna Breuklander Leech.

Karol graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1974. Following graduation, she pursued higher education at Northeast Missouri State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in 1978 and her Masters in 1980.

Following college, Karol returned to Oskaloosa to work with her mom at the family business, The Real Estate Depot, and assisted her sister Karen at the TLC daycare. She took great care of her grandma, mom and sister as their health failed and they needed the support.

Karol enjoyed cooking, collecting glasses, Science Fiction and collecting memorabilia, dishes and horse memorabilia. She was a member of the Association of Realtors.

Karol is survived by her brother, Michael E. Leech of Oskaloosa; a sister, Patricia Leech of Peyton, Colorado; and cousins: Jeff (& Sherry) Elliot, Katrina Elliot and Raeann Elliot, all of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Karen Leech; and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held for Karen and Karol in the Bates Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 5, 2018, at 2 P.M. with Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating.
Burial of their cremated remains will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa at a later date.
Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2018, from 12 P.M. until service time at 2 P.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the family present at the funeral chapel Monday during that time to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.

Karen Lynn Leech, 61, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday February 2, 2017 at University of Iowa in Iowa City. She was born January 23, 1956, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Eugene and Donna Breuklander Leech.

Karen graduated from Oskaloosa Jr. and Sr. High School and Northeast Missouri State University.

In 1992 she opened TLC Daycare and Learning Center Inc for childcare and preschool kids. For 24 years she taught an worked with kids to teach, tutor, and improve reading skills. Karen made sure the homework was done and reading practiced to get kids to finish and improve skills needed for learning.

Karen wishes to thank all the people and kids whom she taught and worked with during those years. She had a great life and teaching was a pleasure as you never know what a child would say or do. She put the center first to meet the needs of the parents and benefit the children. She worked tirelessly to make the lives of the parents and children better, met the hours of the working parents, inspired kids to help others and pass forward to the other kids in the daycare and in life.

Special thanks to everyone Christine Spahr, Kim and Grady Kennedy, Joey and Diane Crookham, Rick and Carle Lancial, Tony Naylor, Rachel Singley and Darby Morlan, Louise Phillips, Jana Cain , Brenda Padgett, Pam Handling, Jeff and Sherry Elliot and family, for all the work,, time spent, laughter and help.

Karen is survived by her brother, Michael E Leech of Oskaloosa; her sister, Patricia Leech of Peyton, Colorado; her twin sister, Karol S. Leech of Oskaloosa; Cousins: Jeff Elliot, Sherry Elliot, Katrina Elliot, and Raeann Elliot of Oskaloosa Iowa.

Karen did not want a funeral service and wanted friends and family to remember her with laughs not tears. Karen wishes you to remember that she gets to play with legos all the time now.
