Hello Friends,

It has been a particularly busy week in the House of Representatives as we have been wrapping up the first wave of legislation of the session. Even more so, I have been chosen to run several bills through my committees, having already led ten. With many of these bills headed to the floor within the next few weeks, I have been working with House leadership to make certain that this transitional process runs as smoothly as possible. In the meantime, I have been reviewing and reworking some bills that I have collaborated on with several other representatives to ensure that they are optimized to be put into law. It has been an exciting process working together with my colleagues and the Legislative Service Agency to bring these policies to form. I look forward to all that can be accomplished once we get these bills on the books!

Though it has been busy in the chamber, I was glad to meet with some familiar faces. This week I had the opportunity to speak with the folks from the Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative and Stacy Crill with the Iowa Association of Nurse Practitioners to talk about the challenges facing the services they provide. I appreciated that they gave me their time to discuss these issues and how current legislation can resolve some of the problems that inhibit their ability to provide vital services to our state.

As the sixth week of the session comes to a close, it feels like the session began a week ago. While we have much of the session remaining, it’s amazing how far we have come in only so little time here at the State House. It has been a pleasure to be working with such esteemed colleagues as well as a great honor to be serving you here in Des Moines. With the number of bills pilling up, I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Again, thank you for all your support and don’t hesitate to reach out.

State Representative, Iowa District 80
