The Oskaloosa Indian Swim Team finished their season Saturday at the District swimming event held at Indianola. Eight different venues were holding eight teams at each site on the day, as every swimmer was having to qualify for the state swim meet at the same time. The state swim meet takes the top 24 times in each race, and there are not any school size divisions, which makes it very hard for schools that are the size of Oskaloosa. At the Indianola site, Osky was competing against Dowling, WD Valley, Ottumwa, Indianola, Des Moines Lincoln, Des Moines East, and Des Moines Hoover. Every school could place as many as three swimmers in every event.

The first event of the day was the 200 Medley Relay, and Osky sent the team of Owen Gordon, Jack Dawson, Carson Breon, and Jarod Miller to the blocks to compete against the field. The team broke the old school record by 3 seconds as they finished in a time of 1:43.47 to earn a 5th place medal and a trip to the podium. They were 1 second away from qualifying for the state swim meet.

Next up for the Indians was the 200 Free and Osky was able to send three swimmers to compete in this event. Landon Hunolt finished in a time of 2:29.67, Keygan Roberts finished in a time of 2:24.17, and Colin Fiechtner swam a time of 2:04.57 and earned a 13th place finish for the team.

Next up was the 200 IM and Osky sent Carson Breon to the blocks. Breon was able to break the school record by swimming a time of 2:09.43 and earned an 8th place finish for the Indians.

In the 50 Free event, Osky was able to send 3 swimmers to compete. Josh Hartl swam a personal best in a time of 26.64, Owen Gordon swam a 24.91, and Jarod Miller had the fastest time of 24.60 for a 14th place finish.
The next race that Osky was in was the 100 Free as they sent three swimmers once again. Keygan Roberts finished in a time of 1:02.65, Colin Fiechtner in a time of 55.26, and Jack Dawson had the fastest time of 52.46 for the Indians and earned a 15th place finish.

The team came together for the 200 Free Relay and sent Carson Breon, Jarod Miller, Colin Fiechtner, and Jack Dawson to the blocks to compete. The school record was broken again as they finished in a time of 1:34.92 and earned the 6th place finish and a trip to the podium to receive their medals.

Next up was the 100 Back Event and Osky sent Owen Gordon to compete. Gordon was able to finish in a time of 1:01.31 and earned an 8th place finish for the team.

In the 100 Breaststroke event, Oskaloosa was able to send three swimmers to compete. Andrew Sholes finished in a time of 1:25.96, Aaron Scholes in 1:20.70 and the fastest Indian time went to Jack Dawson who finished in a time of 1:04.89 and earned an 8th place finish.

The final event of the district meet was the 400 Free Relay, and the team of Carson Breon, Colin Fiechtner, Jarod Miller, and Owen Gordon finished in a time of 3:36.85, which was a new school record, and earned another trip to the podium with a 6th place finish.

Oskaloosa competed at a high level with several personal bests, and four school records were set during the day. With nobody qualifying for the state swim meet, the season is over, and the awards will be handed out at the upcoming banquet.
