Lyle James Webb, 82, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born October 20, 1936, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Frank Peter and Naomi Catherine Smith Webb.
Lyle attended school at St. Elizabeth School in Harper, Iowa.
In November of 1956, he was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Private First-Class Lyle Webb was honorably discharged from the Army in November of 1958, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Following his discharge, Lyle moved to Iowa City, Iowa and started working for 7-Up. In 1961, Lyle moved to Oskaloosa and started working in sales at Mahaska Bottling for over 36 years. In retirement, he worked for the golf course at Edmundson for a few years mowing the course.
On June 11, 1966 he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Larson at Morris, Illinois.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed traveling with Judy and his family. He also enjoyed doing handyman projects around the house and keeping his yard immaculate.
His family includes his wife of over 52 years, Judith Webb of Oskaloosa; three children: Randall Webb of Peoria, Arizona, Ronald (& Dori) Webb of Independence, Missouri, and Lynne Webb (& Dennis Johnson) of Burlington, Iowa; two grandchildren, Natasha Innis and Payton Johnson; 2 great grandchildren, Addison and Preston Montgomery; his sister, Carol Mottet of Washington, Iowa; a brother in law, David Larson of Albia; and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and close friends.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Webb; parents-in-law, Lennart and Irene Larson; a sister-in-law, Karen Mortimer; a brother-in-law, Duane J. Mottet; two sisters in law, Liz Larson and Karen Mortimer; and a nephew, Dan Larson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2019, at 11:00 AM in the St. John Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Samuel Beltz officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Arrangements are by Bates Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will begin Sunday, January 20, 2019, after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 2:00 – 4:00 Sunday afternoon to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa.
