Grinnell’s Nielsen is MWC Tennis Player of the Week

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Abby Nielsen ’21, from Albuquerque, N.M. (Albuquerque), has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week.

Nielsen got her 2018-19 tennis season off to a good start by placing second at the top singles flight of the highly-competitive University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Invite. She claimed wins over players from UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire – the latter being the top seed at the tourney – to advance to the finals. In the title match, she lost a hard-fought 5-7, 6-4, 14-12 decision to an Augustana College player.
