Varsity Volleyball Opens Season With Two Wins

The Oskaloosa Volleyball team opened the 2018 season with two wins last night at the Carlisle Triangular. The Indians beat host Carlisle 25-8, 25-18, and then followed up with a win over Knoxville 20-25, 25-17, 15-8.

We played well as a team, which has been a big emphasis this pre-season. The girls fought back in the Knoxville match when they were challenged to step up the level of play and execute better volleyball. Our work on serving and passing paid off as we stayed in system most of the night, while keeping the other teams out of system often. The new faces on the court played well and were led by the strong play of the returners. It feels good to get our first matches in the books. We can now increase our intensity and re-focus in the gym on getting better every day and ready for the next competition.

All teams will be in action on Thursday at Bondurant-Farrar. The 9/JV teams take the court at 5:30, then followed by the Varsity at 7:00.
