Exploring All There Is To Do Is Goal Of Expo

There was a large turnout of individuals at the Experience Mahaska Expo on April 8th, 2018.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The warm and dry confines of Penn Central Mall gave area groups and businesses an opportunity to share with residents what they have to offer.

Groups you can join to learn new skills and give back to your community were lined up and down the east and west hallways, in addition to filling in center court. With them were various businesses that offered fun activities and prizes.

Groups like the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) showcased how a community volunteer can help their neighbors by being there in time of need.

Mahaska County Memories Roadshow was on hand to share the efforts that are underway to help document Mahaska County’s past, present, and visions of the future, which will be showcased in a variety show.

Racecars lined the south hallway. Reports of a silent track this year were accurate, but promoters and track officials then found a way to save the rumble, at least for another year. Racing action is scheduled to get underway on April 18th.

Penn Central Mall Manager Mike Gipple said the concept for the expo started last fall with various community organizations looking to help area residents become “aware of all the great stuff going on.”

“This event was designed to showcase all of those activities that a family can do throughout the year in our own community,” added Gipple.
