7th Grade Girls Take Down Cardinals
The Oskaloosa Indians 7th grade basketball game hosted Newton on Thursday night. In the A game both teams started slow. The Indians got many good looks but they weren’t falling. The team continued to push the basketball and work at executing their offense. The Indians held a 9-8 lead at halftime. Coaches encouraged the players to pick up the defensive pressure, play good defense off the ball, and work to get steals. The Indians started the 2nd half with strong defense and were able to build a lead but the Cardinals battled back to make it a 5 point game early in the 4th quarter. Oskaloosa answered the Newton run with one of their own to come away with a 33-17 win. The win evened their record at 4-4.
The B team was able to get their 1st win of the season in decisive fashion by a score of 23-9 score. The team started fast and built a 16-4 1st half lead.
The C games continue to be exciting but unfortunately the Indians fell short by a score of 6-8 in overtime.
