8th Grade Girls Volleyball Defeats Grinnell

The girls beat Grinnell in 3 of 6 sets to 25.

The girls out scored Grinnell 131-128

The team consisted of: Emma Tabbert, Allyson Maxwell, Carly Malloy, Emma Basham, Shannon Linder, Ashlyn McDougall, Marissa Katko, Nayeli Nicolas, Madison Roehler, Breana Engelhardt, Jadayia Daniels

Individual Stats:

Aces: Emma Basham(11), Shannon Linder(9), Nayeli Nicolas(6), Allyson Maxwell(5), Emma Tabber(4) Carly Malloy, Madison Roehler, and Marissa Katko all had 2, Breana Engelhardt and Jadayia Daniels both had 1.

Kills: Ashlyn McDougall(5), Emma Basham(4), Carly Malloy(3), Breana Engelhardt(2), Emma Tabert, Allyson Maxwell, and Shannon Linder all had 1.

Blocks: Allyson Maxwell, Marissa Katko and Breana Engelhardt all had 1.

The girls got off to a slow start after the weekend with no practice, but it was good to see them battle back after losing the first 3 sets. We were even able to get 4 kills off of a good pass, set, and attack. After the game the girls asked if we had won. I told them we split sets 3-3, but in a tournament scenario the tie breaker would go down to total points. After calculating the scores we were able to edge out a win by out scoring Grinnell 131-128!

We will be back in action next Tuesday September 26 @ Norwalk.
