Brian Davis
June 1, 1976 – August 27, 2017
Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 41

Brian Davis, 41, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. Brian was born June 1, 1976, in Perry, Iowa, the son of Keith Davis and Joni Orman Davis.

Brian attended Oskaloosa High School and was state champion shot put and discus thrower. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1994.

Throughout school and his early adult years, Brian was a member of Team Iowa, where he participated in wheelchair basketball, weight lifting and track & field all over the United States. He also served as a representative for the Spina Bifida Association.

Brian enjoyed attending Camp Sunnyside for many years and cherished the many friendships he made while there. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Though Spina Bifida left Brian with some physical limitations, he made the choice early on to not let those be life limitations. He participated in athletics and worked to advance wheelchair athletic events at the Iowa Games and other major competitions. He was more interested in encouraging and inspiring those around him rather than being shown pity or favoritism.

Brian had a kind and gentle spirit. He found great comfort and strength in his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

His family includes his mother and caregiver, Joni Davis of Oskaloosa; his father and his wife, Keith (& Denise) Davis of Ankeny; a sister and her husband, Juli (& Tony) Johnson of Oskaloosa; a brother and his wife, Kevin (& Emily) Davis of Ankeny; his grandmothers: Nellie Davis of Perry, Patricia Orman of Oskaloosa, and Carol Bohner of Perry; nieces and nephews, Keegan Davis, Kaelan Davis, Chase Davis, Isabel Davis, A.J. Johnson, Kaylee Johnson, and Kassie Johnson; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and close friend, Jennier Schuning.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Merlin Davis and Jean Orman; an uncle, Todd Orman; and an aunt, Cinda Mathis.
