13 Year Old Charged In Fremont Fire

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office have completed the investigation surrounding the fire at 556 West Main Street, in Fremont, Iowa. This fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m. on July 20th, 2017. The estimated damage to the garage and house located at this address is $120,000.

As a result of this investigation, a 13-year-old male juvenile from the Fremont area has been charged with Reckless Use of Fire or Explosives (a serious misdemeanor). This charge was filed with the Mahaska County Juvenile Court Services Office.

As a reminder, a criminal charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
