3 Facing Charges As Result Of Investigation

As part of an on-going investigation into multiple thefts and burglaries within Mahaska County, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 1212 High Avenue West, Oskaloosa, Iowa on July 6th, 2017. As a result of this investigation and search warrant, The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office has filed multiple charges against several individuals.

26-year-old Steve Melvin Sams, of 1212 High Avenue West, Oskaloosa, Iowa was charged with 1 count of Ongoing Criminal Conduct (Class B Felony), 1 count of Theft in the 1st Degree (Class C Felony) and 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor). Steve Sams has made his initial appearance in the Mahaska County District Court and remains in the Mahaska County Jail on $35,000 bond.

27-year-old Cody Lee Sams, of 1301 Santa Clara Street #2, Oskaloosa, Iowa was charged with 1 count of Ongoing Criminal Conduct, 1 count of Theft in the 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (aggravated misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Cody Sams has made his initial appearance in the Mahaska County District Court and remains in the Mahaska County Jail on $51,000 bond.

34-year-old Derek Lane Graham, of 1212 High Avenue West, Oskaloosa, Iowa was charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Graham made his initial appearance in District Court.

This theft/burglary investigation is continuing and further charges are possible.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
