Thursday’s Concert in the Park starts out at 5:30 with Supper in the Shade. WanderLunch, Calico Jacks, and Sno Biz will be set up on the east side of the square and will be serving throughout the evening. Lawn games are provided weekly by Mahaska Drug. The games are on the grassy area southeast of the bandstand.

The Oskaloosa City Band will perform at 8 p.m. on the city’s historic bandstand. The band will perform a wide variety of music including two tunes made famous by the Beatles. In addition, the trumpets and the low brass sections will each be featured in separate tunes.

The band is expecting a special guest in attendance. Native Oskaloosan and former ABC news anchor, Steve Bell, will be in town for the Christmas in July Celebration on Saturday, July 15. This year marks 60 years since Mr. Bell played in the Oskaloosa City Band as a teenager.

A clipboard is located at the bottom of the band stand steps for special occasions (birthdays / anniversaries) that will be announced later in the evening.

The audience is encouraged to blow bubbles during the finale “Good Night” (reminiscent of the Lawrence Welk Show).
