NEWTON, Iowa (July 8, 2017) – On Wednesday, Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small designated Saturday as National Iowa Speedway Day. As part of the inaugural celebration, the speedway expressed its gratitude by naming the ARCA Racing Series event the Fans with Benefits 150 – dedicated to Iowa Speedway’s Season Ticket Holders.

Dalton Sargeant benefitted from a late restart to win the ARCA Racing Series Fans With Benefits 150 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night, holding off points leader Austin Theriault. Sargeant had a seven second lead late in the going before the final caution came out when Eric Caudell spun on the backstretch.

“The caution was the last thing I wanted to see,” Sargeant said. “It definitely made me nervous, but my guys executed the pit stop perfectly. The General Tires really performed tonight.”

Once Sargeant finally cleared Theriault, he stretched his lead to a full second-and-a-half over Theriault at the checkered flag. The 19-year-old Sargeant won for the second time this season in the No. 77 Cunningham Motorsports Ford — the ride that Chase Briscoe drove to Casey’s General Store’s Victory Lane at Iowa Speedway last year following the ARCA Racing Series ABC Supply Co. 150 presented by Casey’s General Store.

Theriault finished second in Ken Schrader’s No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Toyota. The Fort Kent, Maine, driver has three victories this year.

“Iowa Speedway changes a lot, you really have to be on top of it,” Theriault said. “In that last battle with Dalton, we did what we could but he was just better than us.”

Sargeant is second in the championship standings.

“As the sun started to set, the car started to come to me,” Sargeant said. “If we continue having strong races we’ll hopefully catch up to him [Theriault].”

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana on Friday, July 21(8:00 p.m. CT on FS1).
