The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office in a press release on Wednesday afternoon said that foul play in a death investigation at 1895 290th street has been ruled out. “The preliminary investigation indicates that the male died of natural causes.”

The identity of the of the subject has not been confirmed, pending dental and x-ray comparisons.

An autopsy has been conducted on this subject, results are expected in four to six weeks following toxicology results.

Mahaska County, Iowa – Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

On June 18, 2017 at approximately 10:30 A.M. the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office received a call reference a welfare check at 1895 290th Street in rural Mahaska County. Deputies located a deceased subject inside the residence and requested the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office has determined that there is no immediate danger to the public. The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the; Oskaloosa Fire Department, the Mahaska County Emergency Management Agency, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Criminalistics Laboratory.
