Indians Down Bulldogs In Make-Up Game

The Osky Indians traveled to Ottumwa last night for a rain make-up game from April 4th. The Indians wasted little time to open the scoring gates when Aleeya Cheney would get the first goal of her hat trick off a header. The cross would come from Leah VanMaanen in the 8th minute. Just over two minutes later, Cheney and VanMaanen would link up again for Cheney’s 2nd goal and VanMaanen’s 2nd assist. Mary Nelson would benefit from another of VanMaanen’s crosses in the 14th minute to go up 3-0. The Indians would continue to have chances, but a couple close calls and called back goals would find the Indians leading 3-0 at halftime.

The 2nd half would be much of the same for the Indians as they continued to press and have scoring opportunities. Cheney would get her 3rd goal of the night at the 54th minute with the assist going to Claire Fiechtner. Kinsey Cook, who has been filling in as keeper, took full advantage of her opportunity to play on the field scoring the Indians next 3 goals at the 66th (assist to VanMaanen and Emily Lunsford), the 69th minute (assist to VanMaanen), and 77th minute. VanMaanen would finally give up her role of assister and scored the final goal of the night in the 77th minute (assist to Brittany DeMoney). With the 8-0 victory, the Indians move their record to 8-6.

“We were happy with how we came out and played. This game allowed us to really work on possessing the ball and making off the ball runs which will help us as we move into the play-offs. Aleeya, Kinsey and Leah all had great games and the defense worked hard to limit the Bulldogs to very few chances on our side of the field.”

The Indians finish up the regular season as they travel to Pella Christian next Tuesday with Varsity playing at 5:30 and JV to follow.
