Indianola–Derek Seddon (Sr., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) posted one more automatic-qualifying mark as the William Penn track and field teams competed at the Simpson Kip Janvrin Open Thursday and Friday.

Seddon, who had already met the ‘A’ standard in the discus and hammer, added the shot put to that list (was previously at the ‘B’ standard) with a winning toss of 52-10.25. With the mark, the senior has moved all the way up to 10th in the nation.

He also won the discus event at 173-4 and was 12th in the hammer at 162-4.

Fellow thrower Derek Robinson (Jr., Jenks, Okla., Communications) notched three strong finishes as well, highlighted by taking bronze in the discus at 159-5. The junior also ended up fourth in the shot put (47-11.25) and 13th in the hammer (157-10).

The Statesmen put three in the top 10 in the javelin with Sage Ehresman (Fr., Sully, Iowa, Exercise Science) guiding the trio in fifth at 142-9. Tyler Albert (So., Eldon, Iowa, Engineering Technology) placed seventh (139-4) and Earl George (Sr., Gaithersburg, Md., Biology) finished 10th (126-0).

Kewan Slaton (Fr., Lakeland, Tenn., Computer Science), in fourth in a time of 50.94 seconds, and Charles Hurt (So., Gary, Ind., Sociology), in sixth at 51.27, were both impressive in the 400-meter dash, while Dajon Shaw (So., Highland Park, Mich., Mechanical Engineering) topped the sprinters by taking 12th in the 100-meter dash in 11.33 seconds.
