Paul Lopez, 50, of Tracy, Iowa passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, near North Platte, Nebraska where he was hunting. Paul Lopez, son of Benito Andre and Xiomara Marina (Mirabal) Lopez, was born February 17, 1967, in Miami, Florida.

Paul grew up in Miami and following high school enlisted in the Army. He served four years and was stationed in Germany for a time. After he was discharged, he moved to Oskaloosa to attend William Penn College and graduated with a degree in biology in in 1993.

Paul’s first job after college was with Monsanto in Ankeny working with corn genetics. After working for them several years, he was hired by Syngenta, out of Minnetonka, Minnesota. While working there, he helped develop processes to improve the efficiency of ethanol plants.

On September 3, 2000, Paul was united in marriage to Sharon Lynn Watson, a gal he met while attending Willian Penn.

Paul was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and was a member of Pheasants Forever.

His family includes his wife, Sharon of Tracy; his children: Andrew Lopez of Maine, Nicole Lopez of Phoenix, Arizona, Joshua Lopez of Tracy and Anna Lopez of Tracy; a granddaughter, Braelynn Mart; his mother, Xiomara Lopez of Marshalltown; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Erwin (& Daneta) Lopez of Oskaloosa and Dan (& Drema) Lopez of Montour, Iowa.

In addition to his father, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Lopez.

Funeral services will be held privately, and interment will be in Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
