Free Customer Service Workshop to be Held April 18

The public is invited to a free two-hour workshop, which teaches how to transform community visitors into customers, and keep them coming back. The Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group will host the workshop on April 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the OACDG meeting room at 222 1st Ave East in Oskaloosa.

During the workshop, participants will learn how front-line employees can become their community’s best ambassadors and “The Five Steps to Excellent Customer Service” for businesses. Organizers say that community front-line employees will especially benefit from this workshop, including staff and volunteers who interact with the public in restaurants, retail, convenience stores, attractions, hotels, and nonprofit organizations; as well as their business managers and supervisors.

The workshop is co-sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and taught by Dr. Diane Van Wyngarden, who is ISU Extension’s State Tourism Economic Development Specialist. Van Wyngarden is a former director of Main Street Oskaloosa; former director of Mahaska County ISU Extension; and Past President of the Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group. She will incorporate her knowledge of the Oskaloosa area business community into practical customer service applications during this workshop.

The workshop is free, but pre-registration is requested. For more information or to register, contact Deann DeGroot at ddegroot@oacdg.org or call (641) 672-2591.
