Kathy Dusenberry, 95, of Oskaloosa passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Kathylene Dusenberry, daughter of Albert Leroy and Sarah Ann (Boothe) Durham, was born April 6, 1921, at the rural home of her parents near Leighton, Iowa.

Kathy attended Rochester School south of Leighton and later Evans School through the eighth grade; she began high school in Oskaloosa and attended 11th grade in Fairfield, Iowa. Kathy later earned her G.E.D. at Indian Hills Community College.

Kathy’s first job was as a sales clerk for Betty Gay’s Dress Shop. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Midland Supply and Tool and then for Arnold Motor Supply. Her final employment was with International Harvester.

Kathy was a charter member of the Gospel Tabernacle; it was started in 1942 and is now known as the Fellowship Bible Church. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years and helped with the AWANAS program for many years. Kathy also volunteered with Crisis Intervention Services for several years.

Kathy’s family includes her daughter-in-law, Charlene Dusenberry of Oskaloosa and a daughter and son-in-law, Frances & John Stek of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren: Rhonda (& Jerry) Brummel of Pella, Vicki (& Kevin) Hladik of University Park, Tressie Dusenberry of California, Rick (& Donna) Stek of Oskaloosa, and Pam (& Christopher Conrad) Stek of Iowa City; six great-grandchildren: Kara, Jessie, Zachary, Grant, Geneva, and Georgia; and four great-great grandsons: Trey, Masin, Hunter and Parker; a sister-in-law, Ellen Durham; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Richard; six brothers and five sisters; and a great-grandson, Taylor Brummel.

As was her wish, Kathy’s body has been cremated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to MHP Hospice Services or to a hospice of your choice.
