Teacher Charged with Sexual Exploitation

Marion County, Iowa – In February 2017, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received information that a teacher at the Twin Cedars (TC) Community High School may have had an inappropriate relationship with a student.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into 61 year-old Alan Wesley Stewart of Oskaloosa, Iowa.  The investigation revealed Stewart, while acting as a long term teacher, had repeated sexual contact with one student from TC during 2015.

Stewart was arrested Monday, March 27, 2017, and charged with one count of Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee in violation of Iowa Code 709.15(5)(a), a Class D felony. As of this release, Stewart is being held at the Marion County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the subject is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
