Community Garden Kick Off To Be Held April 3

Interested in having a plot at one of Oskaloosa’s Community Gardens? Come learn more about our community gardens from the garden coordinators. A Kick off for Oskaloosa Community Gardens will be held Monday April 3. It will be at the Mahaska County Extension Office 5:30 – 6:30 pm.

The facilitators of the sites will be in attendance. They are: Hope Gardens (New Hope)- Blaine Vos 641-676-1601 oskyhope@gmail.com; OCSD Glendale- Ron Van Heuvelen 641-660-4329 rveuvelen@gmail.com; William Penn- Marsha Riordan 641-673-1044 riordanm@wmpenn.edu and OCSD FFA Learning Garden- Bret Spurgin 641-895-2291 spurginb@oskycsd.org. Hope Gardens, Glendale and William Penn have garden plots available for 2017.

Other events at the kickoff include “Ask a Master Gardener” (your gardening questions); ISU Extension horticulture information available; and Gardening activities for the kids!

If you are interested in a garden plot but can not attend the kickoff – you are encouraged to contact the facilitators directly or Suzette Striegel @ Mahaska County Extension.
