Jim DeWitt, 59, of Oskaloosa passed away early Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa Jim LeRoy DeWitt, son of Cecil Raymond and Mabel Marie (DeMoney) DeWitt, was born April 24, 1957, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Jim was a 1975 graduate of Oskaloosa High School.

Jim worked for the Mahaska County Maintenance Department for a year before going to work at Pella Corp. He was employed by Pella Corp. for 41 years, retiring as a machinist in August 2016. Over the years, Jim also acquired many rental properties.

Jim’s passion was motorcycles, and he owned and rebuilt several Harley and Indian cycles. He enjoyed traveling and visited all of the states except Hawaii.

His family includes his brother, David DeWitt of Norfolk, NE; three sisters: Linda Berry of Atlanta, GA, Joyce (& Marc) Pierson of Oskaloosa and Mary (& Denny) Clair of Oskaloosa; a nephew, Jesse (& Erica) Clair of Oskaloosa; a niece, Nikki Clair of Oskaloosa; a great-niece, Molly Clair; a great-nephew, Oliver Clair; his girlfriend and partner, Loree Holliday of Oskaloosa and her children. He is also survived by his Missouri family: Mike and Amanda Greer, Nathan and Raquel Showers and Danelle and P.J. James; and eight adopted grandchildren: Kiera and Chelsea Gage-Greer, Kaedon and Morgan Showers, Kaitlyn and Jencie Mae Showers, and Peyton James.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Larry, Eugene, and Jerry.

As was his wish, Jim’s body has been cremated, and interment of his ashes will be held privately at White Oak Cemetery in Mahaska County.
