Leo J. Randall, 73, of Richland, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born December 1, 1943, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Arthur James and Helen Marie McAdoo Randall.

Leo attended school in Ottumwa. On February 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy Hughes in Oskaloosa. The two of them later divorced but stayed close friends.

Early on Leo went to work as a heavy equipment operator for Iowa Culvert Builders. After 20 years with Iowa Culvert Builders, he and Nancy purchased the Lion’s Den in Oskaloosa. He later purchased The Downstairs in Oskaloosa with Kenny Allison. After several years, they sold the bar. Leo went to work as an over the road truck driver, he retired from driving truck in 2014.

Leo was a member of the Eagles and the V.F.W. in Oskaloosa. He was an avid race fan, he founded the O2 Racing Team, that team has passed down to his son in law, Randy Schroeder, and now to the third generation, Leo’s grandson Andrew Schroeder. Leo not only enjoyed dirt track racing he also followed his son Bill and his drag racing. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, boating, and visiting around the campfire at his cabin on the river. He looked forward to watching NASCAR races, playing cards, and trips to the Casino. He was an avid Kansas City Royals baseball fan.

His family includes his close friend and former wife, Nancy Randall of Oskaloosa; four children: Bill (& Robin) Randall of Richland, Jody (& Randy) Schroeder of Keswick, Vickie (& Kevin) Flaherty of Lenexa, Kansas, and Julie (& John) Russell of Glenpool, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Jeremy (& Breanna) Randall, Tim (& Malory) Randall, Cory Randall, Ashley (& Zach) Schroeder, Andrew (& Lexi) Schroeder, and Skylar (& Amber) Randall; eleven great grandchildren: Reagan, Ryann, Raxton, Grace, Lilly, Nolan, Brandon, Quinn, Casen, Autumn, and a great grandson due in June; four step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; a brother, Danny (& Ana) Randall of Oskaloosa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Haines.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Derek Sellars officiating.
Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Wednesday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Wednesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
