Cathy Jean Deevers, age 62, of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at her home in rural Eddyville, Iowa. Cathy was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on October 5, 1954, the daughter of Gene and Velma Powers.

Cathy was raised in Eddyville and attended Eddyville High School, Class of 1972.

On October 6, 1973 at the Eddyville Methodist Church in Eddyville Cathy and Michael Ray Deevers were united in marriage. Cathy and Mike shared over 43 years of marriage together and were blessed with three sons: Chad, Randy and Aaron.

Cathy worked for a year as a Nurse’s Aid before beginning her family. Later she worked for eight seasons at the Eddyville Raceway and for the last 18 years she worked as a cook at the White Buffalo in Albia.

Cathy enjoyed collecting angels and snow globes.

Cathy is survived by her husband of over 43 years Michael Deevers; three sons: Chad (& Kristi) Deevers, Randy (& Shaye) Deevers, and Aaron Deevers, all of Eddyville; four grandchildren: Blake Deevers, Ashton Wade, Kelli Brown, and Jacob Springer; and 2 great-grandchildren, Madison and Carter. Cathy is also survived by her sister Debra Powers of Ottumwa and good friend and Aunt Linda Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Velma Powers; parents-in-law, Orphia and Ed Deevers; and two brothers-in-law, Tim and Cleve Deevers.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Eddyville United Methodist Church. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Cathy’s family with services.
Visitation for Cathy will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Cathy’s family will be greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening.
Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.
A memorial has been established in Cathy’s memory to her family.
