Dorothy Shultz Gorman, 95, of Hedrick, died Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born Thursday, September 1, 1921, in Poweshiek County, the daughter of Charles H. and Hattie McKeag Mikesell.

Dorothy attended school in Delta and graduated in May of 1940.

Dorothy was united in marriage to her high school friend Rex Shultz on June 15, 1940.

Dorothy and Rex farmed north of Hedrick until Rex passed away in September of 1981. She managed the farm for several years.

Dorothy spent 15 years wintering in Mesa, Arizona. In 1987, Dorothy met a good friend, Dr. Robert Gorman, in Arizona. They later married in Iowa and he died on December 13, 1995.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Ed Shultz; her daughter, Eileen Stockstill; four grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a daughter-in-law, Linda Shultz; and a brother: Don Mikesell.

Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 10 A.M. in the Abel Cemetery north of Hedrick with Reverend Bob Voels officiating. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
No visitation is planned at this time.
Memorials may be made to the Hedrick American Legion Auxiliary.
