Ottumwa Man Facing Charges After Alleged Ottumwa Shooting

On Saturday, March 11, 2017, at approximately 3:23 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department responded to the Owls Nest Bar located at 116 S. Court, on a report that a shooting had taken place earlier in the night. Police then began investigating that incident.

At approximately 5:35 a.m., police responded to 1046 Bruce Street, to try and locate a possible victim of the shooting. At that location, officers located a gunshot victim who was identified as Trenton Dale Himes, age 25, of Des Moines. Himes had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso and was transported to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center for treatment of his injuries. Himes is in stable condition.

As a result of the investigation, Cody Alan Pickerell, age 27, of 1046 Bruce, Ottumwa, was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a Class “D” Felony
Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class “C” Felony

Pickerell remains in custody in the Wapello County Jail. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
