Another All-American performance by Mulford

Central College

NAPERVILLE, ILL.— For the second year in a row at the NCAA Division III track and field championships, Central College men’s track and field high jumper Logan Mulford (senior, Mount Pleasant) snagged a runner-up finish.

Including Mulford, four competitors in Saturday’s 17-man field cleared 6 feet, 9 inches. None of the four were able to complete a leap at 6-10.75, reverting the place-order finish to number of misses in previous jumps.

Jacob Eason of Rhodes College (Tenn.) had cleared 6-9 on his second attempt while Mulford did not make it until his third try, giving Eason the national title. Alexander Niemiec of Springfield College (Mass.) tied with Mulford for second place.

Mulford has now placed in the top-two at the last three national meets in the high jump as he also was the runner-up at last year’s outdoor championships.

“I’m extremely proud of Logan and his ability to compete at such at the national level so consistently,” Coach Joe Dunham said. “I give credit to (associate head coach Jim) Fuller. He has done a great job with Logan all season.”

Mulford will soon start preparing for the outdoor season, where he will try and take the next step to his first national championship.

“We know what the goal is outdoors,” Dunham said. “Logan will get back to work and get ready for the outdoor season.”

Through six events scored, Central sits in 14th place in the team standings with seven points.
