Main Street sets theme for 2017 Lighted Christmas Parade

2016 Main Street Lighted Christmas Parade

The Lighted Christmas Parade Committee met following a successful 2016 parade and set the theme for the 30th annual Main Street Lighted Christmas Parade to be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017. The parade will be on Thursday only and the theme will be “30 Years of Christmas Past”. The committee envisions the resurrection of floats and entries from the past. Perhaps you have a favorite from a previous parade. Perhaps you are into up-cycling, recycling, conserving or repurposing. Maybe you’ll simply think “green”. This might be the year for you!

Thursday, Nov. 30 will be the day that encompasses many events. Events will begin at noon in the Penn Central Mall with vendors, music, fun activities for children, Festival of Trees Silent Auction, and more new exciting events for 2017. Gospel music will be held before and after the parade, with parade awards set for 9:30 pm in the mall.

As before, many events are held throughout Oskaloosa in conjunction with the Lighted Parade. As you begin plans for related activities, please contact the Main Street Office to have these events placed in the Holiday Happenings brochure. Many volunteers are needed to make the event a success. If you would like to be a part of the planning contact the Main Street office of the Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group at 641-672-2591 or email dbruxvoort@oacdg.org. Be a part of Iowa’s #1 Holiday Event.
