Hazel E. Garr, 78, of Fremont, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. She was born Monday, November 21, 1938, in Cincinnati, Iowa, the daughter of Leland Cleo and Bertha Agan Ross.

Following school, Hazel was united in marriage to Albert Davis, they later divorced. She married Dean Redmon on January 16, 1965, and they divorced in 1976. Hazel was united in marriage to David Garr, Sr. on July 9, 1977 in Ottumwa and he died February 23, 1998.

Hazel worked at numerous nursing homes as a nurse’s aide. She loved country music, going to dances, sewing, crocheting, spending time with her family, watching Wheel of Fortune and soap operas.

She is survived by her four daughters: Pam Horn of Fort Madison, Valerie (& Mike) Hazelwood of Ottumwa, Vonda White (& Kenny Kopsieker) of Ollie and Veronica (& Lyall) Davis of Fremont; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her significant other: Albert Davis; her husband: David Garr, Sr.; her parents; and two daughters: Victoria McDowell and Debra Collett.

Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 11 A.M. at Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery south of Fremont with Pastor Robb Bruns officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017, from 10 – 10:50 A.M. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont.
A procession will form at the funeral home Tuesday at 10:50 A.M. for those wishing to go to the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa.
