WPU Finishes Ninth at Loaded Kegel/ISBPA Tourney

Addison, Ill.–The Statesmen men’s bowling team had another great performance Saturday and Sunday by ending up in the top 10 at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic.

WPU placed ninth out of 62 teams in the Tier 1 event with 8,720 pins in five regular games and 20 Baker games. Wisconsin-Whitewater was the top squad with 9,153 pins. The Statesmen improved as the weekend progressed, gaining three spots during Baker competition.

Kyle Cook of Urbana (Ohio) topped the 482-person individual standings with a 227.8 average, just one pin ahead of Vincent Bellar of Notre Dame (Ohio).

Curtis Majka (Jr., Elgin, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) led the navy and gold in 24th place with a 202.4 average. Nick Walker (So., Zeeland, Mich., Business Management) also eclipsed the 200-pin mark at 201.0, while Lucas Perdieu (Sr., DeWitt, Iowa, General Accounting) rolled all five games as well at 196.6.

Quincy Bruce (Jr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, General Accounting) started just three games, but posted the team’s highest average at 210.3, while Ryan Howard (Sr., King, N.C., Industrial Technology) was also strong in two games with a clip of 205.0.

David Decker (Fr., Peyton, Colo., Physical Education), at 162.5 (two games), Bret Keimig (Jr., Davenport, Iowa, Physical Education), at 141.0 (two games), and Stian Hoff (Sr., Orkanger, Norway, General Accounting), at 150 (one game), also competed for William Penn.

Next Up: William Penn takes two weeks off before traveling to Fairview Heights, Ill. on February 4-5 to compete in the McKendree Baker Challenge.
