Statesmen Grapple at Missouri Valley, Minnesota West CC Tournaments

Marshall, Mo./Worthington, Minn.–The William Penn wrestling team split its crew this weekend, competing at both the Missouri Valley Invitational and the Worthington Open hosted by Minnesota West CC Friday and Saturday.

At Missouri Valley, WPU placed 27th out of 33 teams with 14 points, while #1 Grand View won the team title with 180.5 points.

John Altieri (So., Warwick, R.I., Sociology) finished one win shy of placing in the top eight at 125 pounds. The sophomore ended up 2-2 with one major decision.

197-pounder Dane Jones (So., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sociology) was also 2-2 with one fall.

Fabian Rodriguez (So., Manassas, Va., Business Management) pinned a foe at 141 pounds, while 165-pounder Jeremy Walters (Sr., University Park, Ill., Exercise Science) claimed a win as well.

At Minnesota West CC, Blake Ealy (Fr., North English, Iowa, Sociology) guided the way with a 2-2 mark at 141 pounds.

149-pounder Brad Watson (Sr., Rolla, Mo., Physical Education) and 165-pounder Jordan Lockhart (Jr., Lawton, Okla., Communications) both earned one major decision victory each, while Jeremy Andujar (Jr., Tampa, Fla., Biology) was triumphant once as well at 133 pounds.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Pella Thursday to face Central in dual-meet action at 7 p.m.
