MHP Receives FY 2016 Audit Results

MAHASKA COUNTY – Gronewold, Bell, Kyhnn & Co. P.C., certified public accountants, have released an audit report on Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

According to Chris Nelson, audit partner, MHP’s revenues totaled $53,299,000 for the fiscal year 2016, which runs from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. This is a 0.6 percent increase from the previous year. The revenues included $49,562,500 in net patient revenue, $1,602,600 of other operating revenue, $1,945,800 from county taxes and $9,300 in interest on investments.

Expenses for the year totaled $55,484,500, a 3.0 percent increase from the prior year, and included $27,149,800 for other professional services, $11,236,600 for nursing services and $9,366,500 for fiscal and administrative services.

“The healthcare environment remains challenging and we expect that to continue under new federal and state leadership,” said MHP CEO Jay Christensen. “We have had some specific challenges but continue on a plan for improvements in fiscal year 2017 and beyond.”

A copy of the audited report will soon be available for review in the office of the Auditor of State and the Hospital Administrator’s office.
