Naomi Faye Roberts, age 84, of Eddyville, Iowa passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, January 17, 2017, at the Serenity House of Oskaloosa, Iowa. Naomi was born on October 16, 1932, in Lacey, Iowa to Leland and Edna (Autry) Stigers.
Naomi was raised in Oskaloosa and graduated from Oskaloosa High School, Class of 1951.
On September 1, 1951 Naomi and William L. Roberts were united in marriage. Naomi and William were blessed with seven children and 53 years of marriage. William died on August 21, 2005.
Right after high school Naomi worked for the Continental Overall Factory. She was a homemaker, raising her family and she also cleaned homes for many years around Eddyville. For 16 years she was a dietary aid in Mediapolis.
Naomi enjoyed fishing, camping, square dancing, sewing, puzzles, and especially her family.
Naomi is survived by six children: Tim (& Peggy) Roberts of Ottumwa, Kathy (& Tom) Fryer of Oskaloosa, Anna Roberts of Oskaloosa, Dave (& Debi) Roberts of Eddyville, Nancy (& Mike) Russell of Knoxville, and Molly (& Jeff) Krizer of Delta; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lucille (& Robert) Thompson of Beacon and Laura Autry of Davenport; and one brother, Glen (& Marilyn) Stigers of Rose Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Edna Stigers; step father, Bernard Loring; her husband, William Roberts; her son, Stephen Roberts; six sisters: Eathol Piper, Leatha Neilson, Opal Harvey, Fern Roberts, Elsie Caves, and Marilyn Steele; four brothers: Melvin, Estil, Dale, and Roy Stigers; and her companion, Jack Rife.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel.
Family burial will follow services at Bridgeport Cemetery of rural Eddyville.
Visitation for Naomi will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Naomi’s family will be greeting friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday evening.
A memorial has been established in Naomi’s name to Hospice.
