Tyler Winkleman, 30, of Prole, Iowa, and formerly of Oskaloosa died Thursday, January 12, 2017, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Tyler was born December 28, 1986, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Rosanne Winkleman and Bob Shelton.

Tyler graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 2005. While in high school Tyler was active in football and wrestling. He continued his education and wrestling career at Buena Vista University, earning his bachelor degree from there in 2010.

As a high school student Tyler worked at Earl May and Pizza Ranch in Oskaloosa. Upon completing college, he worked for Seneca in Des Moines and then Ted Lare Landscaping. Currently he was working for Capital City Fruit in Norwalk.

Tyler was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and shed hunting. Few things delighted him more than taking his bird dog Gracie out for a day of pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

His family includes his mother and her fiancée, Rosanne Shelton & Lew Heldenbrand of Prole; His father and his wife, Bob & Roxie Shelton of Pella; two brothers: Nic Winkleman of Ottumwa and Gauge Shelton of Pella; maternal grandmother, Nellie Winkleman of Beacon; paternal grandfather, Bob Shelton, Sr. of Bloomfield; his bird dog and companion, Gracie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Welsey “Gene” Winkleman; and his paternal grandmother, Thelma Shelton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Linda Stueve officiating.
As was Tyler’s wish his body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4 p.m. until service time at 6 Thursday evening.
Memorials may be made to the Tyler Winkleman Memorial Fund.
