The Indians had a tough battle against #1 Pella.

Oskaloosa improved their play from last week but that wasn’t nearly enough in a 69-34 loss Tuesday night in Oskaloosa. Pella, behind Ciara Bucheit’s 22 points, forced numerous Indian turnovers and just had too many good players for Oskaloosa. The Indian offense played much better, scoring 18 points in the 1st half against the #1-ranked Lady Dutch, trailing 36-18 at the break. Pella started to pour it on in the 3rd quarter, extending the lead to 58-29 after 3 quarters. The Dutch extended the lead to 36, kicking in the running clock before the final buzzer.

Oskaloosa was led by senior Alexis Westercamp, who scored 15 points. Marleigh Denberger had one of her best all-around games, with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the Indians. Shallandra Shilling scored 4 points while Katelyn Smith rounded out the scoring with 3 points. Bucheit led Pella with 22 while Chloe Van Vilet and Emily Holterhaus each scored 14 points.

Oskaloosa falls to 2-8 overall and 0-6 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Pella improves to 9-1 and 4-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Oskaloosa will be in action Friday at Indianola with a 6:15 PM tip.
