Central remains in wrestling top-10

PELLA — In advance of the season’s second half, the Central College wrestling team remains at No. 10 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll.

The Dutch are now ranked individually in five weight classes, as Cam Timok (sophomore, Glen Allen, Va./Hermitage HS) and Daniel Radcliffe (freshman, Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township HS) surged into the rankings at 133 and 141 pounds, respectively.

Seniors Ryan Vandall (Phoenix, Ariz./Moon Valley HS) and Matt Seabold (senior, Burlington) as well as junior C.J. Pestano (junior, Torrance, Calif.) also are ranked.

Only Wartburg College (7), Ithaca College (N.Y.) (6), and Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) (5) have as many ranked wrestlers as Central.

Timok, ranked No. 9, has started the season 12-1 with tournament titles at the Super 8 Invitational and M.S.O.E. Invitational. No. 10-ranked Radcliffe leads the team with 16 total victories and five wins by fall.

At 165 pounds, Vandall (14-2) climbed up the ladder one more rung to No. 2. Pestano (13-3) and Seabold (11-2) remained at No. 4 and No. 10 at 125 and 197 pounds, respectively.

After a month off before, the Dutch host the Central Under Armour Invitational on January 7 inside H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
