Albert Davis, 80, of Fremont died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born Saturday, February 8, 1936, in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Albert Raymond and Ruth Davison Davis.

Albert attended school in Alexandria, Missouri.

Albert worked at Electro Metals Factory in Keokuk early on. He later joined the Merchant Marines and worked as a cook. He worked for a time as a cook at his mom’s restaurant in Texas, on a riverboat, also at a restaurant in Louisiana and lastly in Des Moines. Albert traveled a lot during his life.

Albert is survived by his daughter, Pamela Horn of Fort Madison; two granddaughters: Julie (& Levi) Hamilton and Janice (& Dan) Horn; two grandsons: Keith (& Amanda) Horn and Kristen Horn; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; his longtime companion, Hazel Garr of Fremont; a step granddaughter, Jenny (& Marshel) Riley and her three children; three step daughters: Valerie (& Mike) Hazelwood of Ottumwa, Vonda White (& Ken Kopsieker) of Ollie and Veronica (& Lyall) Davis of Fremont; two brothers: Carl (& Sue) Davis of Canton, Missouri and Bob (& Barb) Davis of Alexandria, Missouri; two sisters: Susie (& Larry) Smith of Keokuk and Mary McKay of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Mervel Glen and Robert “Broadway” Davis; a half-sister:p, Letha Davis; and two step daughters: Debra and Victoria.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at 2 PM in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Pastor Robb Bruns officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery south of Fremont.
Visitation will be in the Fremont Funeral Chapel Tuesday, December 27, 2016, after 1 PM and the family will be at the funeral chapel Tuesday from 1 PM until service time at 2 PM to greet friends and relatives.
