Oskaloosa–Torren Jones (Sr., Chandler, Ariz., Sociology) put his team on his shoulder last week and his trio of double-doubles led him to once again being named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Jones earned his second award by averaging 27.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game to help #3 William Penn (7-1) to three wins, headlined by a road victory over #6 Columbia. WPU handed Grand View its first league loss and also gave Columbia and Missouri Baptist their first setbacks of the year.

The senior posted a double-double in all three contests, including highs of 35 points versus Grand View and 18 rebounds versus Missouri Baptist. He was potent from all over the hardwood, shooting 56.9% (29-for-51) from the field and 92.0% (23-for-25) from the line; Jones hit two three-pointers as well. The performances guided him to being named Tournament MVP of Columbia’s Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic.

For the year, Jones is averaging 21.6 points and 11.6 rebounds in addition to six assists, six blocks, and four steals. The forward is shooting 61.2% overall and 80.4% at the charity stripe. He has been in double figures all eight games this season.

The honor is the second for WPU.
